The symptom

Your website explains the service perfectly. Customers understand every word. Then they open three competitors and find the same promise wearing different trousers.

Clear but interchangeable is better than confusing, but it is not finished. The customer still needs a useful reason to prefer you: an approach, specialism, experience, point of view or way of working that matters to them.

The test

Cover the logo and read the homepage aloud. Could a competitor claim every sentence without blushing? If yes, you have described the category rather than positioned the business.

  • What do you do unusually well?
  • Which customers benefit most from that difference?
  • What proof can they see before they buy?

The prescription

Do this next.

  1. Highlight every line a competitor could use unchanged.
  2. Choose one difference that genuinely improves the customer’s outcome.
  3. Put the proof beside the claim instead of hiding it on the About page.
